WorkBeacon was created by someone who understands what it is like to run a service business because I spent many years working in one myself.

Before I became a website developer, I worked as a floorcovering installer for 23 years. This was not an office job. I worked in customers’ homes and businesses, measured rooms, planned jobs, installed flooring, solved problems, and dealt with changes that could happen without warning.

I understand what it is like to start early, work long hours, and come home tired. I know how difficult it can be to answer calls, prepare estimates, schedule jobs, keep customers updated, track invoices, and organize paperwork while also trying to complete the day’s work.

Running a service business takes more than being good at your trade. You also have to manage customers, employees, schedules, payments, documents, and many other details. When those details are spread across notebooks, text messages, spreadsheets, calendars, and different apps, important information can easily get lost.

That real-world experience is one of the main reasons I created WorkBeacon.

After leaving the floorcovering industry, I moved into website development. I have now worked in the website development and technology industry for more than 30 years. During that time, I have built websites, worked with databases, developed business tools, and helped companies use technology to operate more effectively.

WorkBeacon combines both parts of my background. It brings together decades of technology experience with a practical understanding of how service businesses actually work.

This software was not designed by someone who has only studied business from behind a desk. It was designed by someone who has carried tools into a customer’s home, worked on job sites, handled unexpected problems, and understood that the work still has to get done before the day is over.

My goal is to make WorkBeacon useful without making it confusing. Business software should help you save time, stay organized, and serve your customers. It should not require weeks of training or force you to change everything about the way you work.

I also believe business software should be affordable. Small service companies should not have to pay hundreds of dollars every month for features they may never use. WorkBeacon is being built to provide useful tools at a fair price, with plans that make sense for smaller businesses.

The goal is not to make WorkBeacon the most complicated system available. The goal is to make it one of the most practical.
